We’re hiring! So what!!

Steve Gyseman - Monday 17th July 2017

Over the past 12 months we’ve seen an unprecedented demand from clients to help recruit top talent into their organisations.

Naturally our work has led to us analysing how other organisations are conducting their campaigns and it is amazing how many rely on screaming “WE’RE HIRING!” on social media.

At a time when employment is at its highest level in over a decade “WE’RE HIRING” isn’t going to cut it when it comes to making your brand stand apart and be attractive to potential employees. In short, your ‘employer brand’ has never been more relevant or important to the future of your business.

A number of employers believe that having jobs available should lead to a flood of cv’s for each position.  The reality is somewhat different!  Hardly surprising given the labour force stats.

Major challenges face employers particularly in the Food & Drink, Manufacturing and Public sectors:

  • Lack of STEM skills amongst school leavers
  • Uncertainty around the futures of EU nationals
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) – the rise of the machines
  • The impact of Brexit, is now really the best time to change employer?

We are currently working closely with both recruitment agencies and employers to answer the following key questions that potential candidates will consider:

  • Why should I join you?
  • What’s it like in your organisation?
  • Why risk what I have got?
  • Will you offer me a brighter future?

Unless you can articulate the answer to these basic questions authentically and with greater creativity that a job description copied pasted onto your website. You are limiting your chances.

What is needed is a strategy to make talent want to join you and then retain that talent for growth. WE’RE HIRING isn’t a strategy.
